Loma Systems recently launched the next generation CW3 Checkweigher and IQ3+ Metal Detector Combination system. This compact and versatile CW3 combination machine benefits from a slim line metal detector head which provides a much smaller footprint, ideal for processors where space is at a premium. The new combination machine can be engineered to suit individual application requirements and weighs a wide range of flexible and rigid packs up to 6kg.
Every unit is designed to survive even the harshest of manufacturing environments, illustrating Loma’s reputation for long lasting durability. Reflecting this, the new CW3 combined Checkweigher and Metal Detector is constructed of stainless steel, right down to bearings and rollers. The high quality electronics guarantee optimum reliability and the flexible variable frequency detection adapts to new products and packages within seconds. The smaller metal detector produces the same detection performance as the previous larger metal detector.
The fully integrated mechanical frame ensures easier transportation and the separate reject system reduces vibration on the weigh platform which improves reliability and performance. Additionally, the cabinet has an improved IP rating due to a stronger seal, which eliminates water ingress.[hr]

Many Loma customers have purchased the new CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector as significant savings can be made when purchasing a single combined machine as opposed to separate checkweigher and metal detector units.
Despite the comprehensive functions of the CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector it is simple to use as both machines can be operated from one single graphical colour touch screen control panel, the control panel is now protected by a polycarbonate cover. Furthermore, the machine has a USB connection and a PC interface making it easy to produce diagnostic and statistical reports of performance with an option to download these either to memory stick or to a factory network.
The launch of Loma’s IQ3 Metal Detector was heralded as a revolution in metal detection technology due to its advanced electronics, which means the unit can auto-select the correct frequency for maximum contaminant sensitivity. No longer are operators required to manually optimise frequencies, which is both time-consuming and risky. The IQ3+ version adds the benefits of an easy to use, icon driven, intuitive full colour graphical touch screen; making it even simpler for operators to use and achieve maximum functionality.
Loma have improved their award winning flagship metal detector.
The IQ3+ Metal Detector Conveyor now benefits from a stronger field strength which improves detection performance. Loma’s new VF Auto Balance technology provides the ability to null ‘out of balance’ signals which allows increased detection performance through maximising the useable dynamic range of the receiver board.
Additionally, Loma have introduced a new transmitter board which allows stronger field strength levels only previously seen on single frequency tuned systems, this enhancement delivers a more robust detection level.
Furthermore, Loma have now included a high performance integrated circuit to allow on-board seamless implementation of ‘Sure Tune’ an automatic ferrite referencing function at each frequency level, which produces a more robust and predictable signal at all frequency levels.
Loma is a world leader in the design and manufacture of in-line inspection equipment. With a comprehensive range of Metal Detectors, Checkweighers and X-ray systems, Loma is committed to providing the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for all food product inspection requirements.
